




Poly Pigs are manufactured from open-cell polyurethane foam with variable densities and different types of external coatings, allowing their use across a wide range of applications. The polyurethane foam, available in various densities, is molded into the standard ogive shape of the Poly Pig to facilitate passage through valves and/or restrictions within the pipeline.
The length of a Poly Pig is approximately twice its diameter, preventing rolling inside the pipeline, while the diameter itself is oversized by approximately 2% relative to the pipeline internal diameter to ensure adequate frictional contact with the internal pipe surface. Standard Poly Pig configurations feature a rear concave plate coated with high-density polyurethane (80 Shore A durometer), providing maximum sealing capability against the propelling forces of the driving fluids.
Poly Pigs may be supplied uncoated (SWAB or BARE), primarily used for water removal and batching operations, or coated (COATED, WIRE, etc.) with high-density polyurethane (80 Shore A durometer) to perform multiple functions such as displacement, cleaning, and batching. The spiral criss-cross external coating increases structural strength and enhances the pig’s cleaning performance.
The rotating pattern design ensures slow axial rotation of the pig, promoting uniform wear and extending pig service life. The cleaning effectiveness of Poly Pigs is generated by the friction created by their oversized diameter; additionally, propellant pressure compresses the pig longitudinally, causing radial expansion and further increasing frictional resistance and cleaning action.
Special Poly Pigs can be equipped with steel brushes, silica carbide, plastic materials, or PTFE strips to enhance scraping and cleaning performance. All Poly Pigs can also be supplied with pulling ropes, double noses, bi-directional (Bi-Di) configurations, and transmitter cavities to allow tracking during pipeline passage.
